About
Getriin Kotsar (2001) is an artist from Estonia. She is getting her BA in Performing Arts in summer 2025. In her artistic practices she works with themes like isolation, disappearance, dreaming and passage of time. Lot of her works, performative and literary, derive from dreams, sleeping, biological/ecological processes happening in nature and everyday life. As an artist, she thrives to create atmospheres, which are melancholy, liminal, eerie and aesthetically odd, yet pleasing.
Getriin is interested in theatre, but as well as in writing, filmmaking, dance and different movement practices, music & sound design and crocheting. Mostly keeping herself busy with creative projects, she is also fond of academic writing, text editing and researching different topics like slow cinema, etymology and popular culture. Growing up near seaside has influenced Getriin’s work, integrating different elements of nature to her works either performative or literary. As an artist and human being, she recently gained interest how to include people with disabilites and/or neurodivergency to artistic practices, which are usually limited to able-bodied and neurotypical people.
Getriin is currently living in Viljandi and getting her BA in Performing Arts in UT Viljandi Culture Academy.
